 COMMUNICATIONS

Customers can reach us via the Internet, connected via a firewall-protected 2 MBit leased line. For Internet connectivity we use Netopia routers (from our customer Netopia, Inc). We run an FTP server day and night. Clients have private, password-protected accounts on the FTP server to ensure secure and confidential file transfers. If you're running Lotus Notes, we can also link you to our server for tight integration.

 SYSTEMS

All translators and system specialists are equipped with modern PC workstations. In addition, we have a number of PC's equipped with different operating systems and operating system versions for software testing. We also have several Power Macs available for Macintosh localizations. All PCs and Macs are networked via Fast Ethernet with a server equipped with a fault-tolerant disk array and UPS. The system management is done in-house which provides us with in-depth knowledge of systems, networks, etc.

 SOFTWARE

We use all standard DTP and word processing packages for Windows and Macintosh. We also fulfill requests for any additional software programs required for particular localization projects.

 TRANSLATION MEMORY

Translations of documentation and help files are done using Transit, the translation memory tool from STAR, and Translator's Workbench from TRADOS. The use of a translation memory with integrated terminology management ensures consistency within the documentation and facilitates updates. This is extremely useful when translation starts at an early stage with "unfrozen" files which have to be updated during the translation project. Updates of later releases also benefit from the translation memory.

 LOCALIZATION TOOLS

We have all the standard tools required for Windows-based localizations at our disposal, such as help compilers, resource editors (like PASSOLO and Catalyst), C and C++ compilers, etc. As a subscriber to the Microsoft Developer Network, we also have access to all the latest software and glossaries required for localization. When localizing Macintosh software we work with Resorcerer, AppleGlot - Apple's tool for translating and updating Macintosh software - and other tools. We've successfully localized several Apple Guide help systems, and we're a registered Apple Developer, thus having all required materials at our disposal.
